Thomas D. Schroeder, N1NDM

Thomas Dale Schroeder, 83 of North Port, Florida, formerly of South Burlington, Vermont, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 in Port Charlotte, FL. He was born on February 9, 1940 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Howard and Mabel (Welch) Schroeder. Tom grew up in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from Everett High School in 1958. He enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served as a navigator from 1960-1966. Tom was significantly injured in a fall while stationed in Germany. He spent a year recovering in military hospitals prior to being honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in business. Tom married Sally Nadon in 1966 and they had four sons. Tom owned and operated Fashion Lane, a women’s clothing store in the 1970’s. When the store closed he had a long career as a small business counselor working for the Vermont Small Business Development Center and the United States Small Business Administration. Tom was a champion of small businesses and was most proud of his work counseling future business owners. He was a member of Masonic Patriot Lodge #33, in Hinesburg, Vt.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Mabel and Howard; former wives Sally Nadon Pedley and Susan Schroeder, and grand-daughter Jayda Schroeder. He is survived by his loving wife Jan and his sons Kevin (Kristen) of Hanover, PA, Fred (Jody) of Bristol, VT, Jason (Taryn) of Cedar City, UT, and Thomas of Nantucket, MA. Tom is also survived by his Schroeder grandchildren: Olivia, Owen, Jonas, Jordan, Crosby, Timothy, Thomas, Grace, and Henry; Susan’s children Rachel Chiguluri and Andrew Florey and their children Stefanie and Priyanka Chiguluri and Tucker and Jasmine Florey; and Jan’s children Jeff (Wanda) Lomprey of Waunakee, WI and Michelle (Tim) Behling of Danvers, MA and their children Madeline Lomprey and Alex, Andrew, and Ella Behling.
A service for Tom will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, June 29 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte, Florida. Donations can be made in Tom’s honor to Doctors without Borders or your favorite charity. Burial will be in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center, Vermont later this summer.

Mr. Carl James Long, 78, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, after a very brief illness. Known as Jim to friends all around the world. Jim was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam Era. He and his wife Patty moved to Lake Tansi where he retired a short six months before his illness. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Agnes Schmidt Long; sister, Claire Marshall; sister-in-law, Carol Long.
Survivors include wife, Patty Reed Long of Crossville; children, Steve Long (Tawny) of Charlotte, NC, Kristen Hullinger (Curtis Jones) of Glendale, AZ; stepson, Donald Martin (Leslie) of Franklin, TN; brothers, Dave Long of Middletown, OH, Chris Long (Kim) of Middletown, OH; sisters, Maggie Runyan of San Antonio, TX, Ann Everett, Cathy Mahoney of Middletown, OH; grandchildren, Logan and Nathan Hullinger, James, Steven and Cody Long, Reese (Caitlyn) Perry; Several nieces and nephews;
several Godchildren; and children of his heart.
Cremation arrangements have been made and a memorial service will be held October 15, 2022, at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “A Time for Paws” P.O. Box 2982, Crossville, TN. 38555. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Carl James Long.
George Hayden Ennis, W4ANN

George Hayden Ennis, age 62, of Crossville, TN, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 1, 1959, in Williams, AZ, son of George and Elizabeth Hayden Ennis.
Mr. Ennis retired from the Bay Area Rapid Transit Police Department in 2009 after serving 28 years. After returning to Crossville, he worked for the Cumberland County Sheriffs Office as a transport officer. He belonged to the Cumberland Plateau Amateur Radio Club, Elks Club, Fair Park Senior Citizen’s Clubs and was a member of the Simple Life Church. He also loved airplanes and was a great supporter of our Military.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sheryl Miller.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lynda Havens Ennis; Son-George A. Ennis; Daughter- Christina Martin and husband Zachary; Grandchildren- Bear and Lilly Martin; Niece- Joyce Hawkins and husband Ryan; and Sister- Karen Ennis.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Simple Life Church. Burial will follow at Crossville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM prior to the service.

Tracy passed away peacefully on August 28, 2021, at Cumberland Medical Center, surrounded by all of her siblings.
She is formally from Butler, Pa., but had been living in the Crossville area with her late husband Duwayne L. Osborne since 1993.
She is survived by her beloved dachshund, Bailey; her sisters, Jennifer McKee, of Chicora, Pa., Becky Montgomery of Renfrew, Pa., Marcia Carter of Cookeville, Brandi Hilliard Bacome of Renfrew, Pa., her brother Thomas Sims III, of Butler, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.
Tracy was a past president of the Cumberland Plateau Amateur Radio Club.
John Stephen Pritchett, W4BDA
November 2, 1953 - June 23, 2021
John Stephen Pritchett was born Nov. 2, 1953 in Pemboke, Bermuda, and died June 23, 2021.
John grew up in Bermuda with his older sisters, Anna Louise Abell, and Janet Thelma Phillips, by his maternal aunt, Joy Louise Doughty and maternal grandparents, William and Maria Doughty. He attended Bermuda Institute and was a fireman with the Hamilton, Bermuda fire brigade. In his 20’s, he moved to Virginia Beach, VA and lived with his father, Elmer Carson Pritchett, and sisters, Barbara Lee Viohl and family. His other sister, Rose Marie Payne and her family lived nearby. Later, he lived on a sailboat in Virginia Beach for many years and worked installing security systems.
In 2010 he moved to his house in Crossville, TN. He was active in Bethlehem Baptist Church, for a few years, and was a beloved member of the Cumberland Plateau Amateur Radio Club. He loved TN, and the friends he made there.
He was preceded in death by his Aunty Joy, his parents, grandparents, and a half-brother, Edward Calloway. He is survived by his four sisters, his brother-in-law Robert David Abell, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Next year, when his older sister, Anna visits Bermuda with her family, they will spread his ashes in the ocean.
His memorial service will be Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 6 PM at Crossville Memorial, visitation 4-6 PM.
William G. Melton, N4TRK

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — William G. Melton, 74, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, from a long illness.
Bill was born July 10, 1946, to Frank and Anna Semler Melton in Warren.
Bill moved to Crossville, Tenn. in 1997 after working 30 years at General Motors in Lordstown. He was a ham radio operator and loved to travel on his Goldwing.
Survivors include his son, Thomas Melton (Tonya); grandchildren, Nicole Lynam and Chris Melton; brother, David (Gladys) Melton; and sister, Sandra Sherret.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Janet Pike.
Per Bill’s request, there are no services and a caring cremation has taken place.
James "Larry" Kellough, WB9AZQ

JAMES “LARRY” KELLOUGH age 76 of Crossville, TN passed away August 24, 2020. He was born February 12, 1944 in Corydon, KY the son of James W. and Frances Berry Kellough. He was retired from the communication industry as a video engineer and was also a member of Illinois National Guard. He and Sandy spent several years in Vincennes, IN before returning to Robinson, IL, where they spent a few years before moving to New Orleans, LA where they lived for more than 25 years. They retired to Crossville, TN in 2006. Larry has been involved with “Amateur Ham Radio” since 1963 (call sign WB9AZQ) and was a member of Cumberland Plateau Amateur Radio Club and Amateur Radio Emergency Services. He loved music and was a member of Reunion of Professional Entertainers in Nashville. He was also a Beta Sigma Phi Envoy. He was also involved in community events, volunteering at the Cumberland County Playhouse, Cumberland County Fair, Historic Palace Theatre and the National Quartet Convention. He and his wife Sandy were members of Plateau Christian Church. He is survived by his wife Sandy of Crossville, TN, sister- Lois O’Nan and her husband Dorris of Newburg, IN, brother- Al Kellough and his wife Clara of Georgetown, KY, stepbrother- Calvin “Butch” Smith and his wife Brenda of Frankfort, KY, stepsister- Sharon Sugg and her husband Bill of Joliet, IL, sister-in-law- Kay Lacy and her husband Gary of Monticello, IL and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law- Mike Seaney, sister-in-law- Donna Bone and nephew- Jeff Kellough. Funeral services will be held Thursday August 27, 2020 at 7pm at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6pm-7pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Services will be held later held in Oblong, IL at Pulliam’s Funeral Home with burial in Palestine Cemetery.
